November Minutes

WOODHATCH W.I.

Minutes of Monthly Meeting held on Monday 14th November at the Woodhatch Centre

 

WELCOME: The President welcomed members, tellers from Redstone WI and Rosemary from SFWI to the meeting.

 

APOLOGIES: Brenda, Tricia, Jane and Mollie

 

MONTHLY MEETING:  

The Annual Meeting – The auditor will be from SFWI, Angela Presented and proposed the Financial Statement and Julie seconded it.

Elizabeth gave the Committee annual report

Eve gave the President’s address and proposed the Committee annual report which was seconded by Rosemary .

Eve thanked Caryl and Sarah who had decided to come off the committee.

The Committee for 2023 were introduced to the members Eve, Elizabeth, Angela, Brenda, Julie, Katie, Heather and Jill, voting for President took place. Eve Olney was voted President for 2023.

Speaker:

Rosemary from SFWI spoke about how National and Surrey Federations spent their share of our subscription and all the things we have as part of our membership.

There were a few questions from the members as the subscription is going up to £46 next April.

 

VOTE OF THANKS: Eve gave the vote of thanks.

 

FLOWERS FOR THE PRESIDENT’S TABLE:  Eve provided a pot plant.

 

COFFEE ROTA: Sarah and Angela prepared the refreshments.

‘Redhill a Century of Change’ talk by John Capon

Ralph Vaughan Williams A Sea Symphony musical evening at Dorking Halls

Autumn Federation meeting very good speakers

Syrian Feast provided by the Syrian community locally

Quiz at the Archway we did not do too well

Helping at Stripey Stork 3 members sorted games and puzzles

Coffee morning at the Mertham Mix café 5 members enjoyed a chat

Brunch at the Pilots Hub 4 members enjoyed brunch at the airport

42nd Street a very professional show by ESOS

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

CORRRESPONDENCE:  

There is a talk at Redhill library on 1st Thursday of the month at 10.30am

NFWI:

Observers’ information for the 2023 AGM at Cardiff on Thursday 25th May has been released together with the linking list for delegates and Sidlow WI will represent us.

 

COFFEE MORNINGS:

The next coffee morning will be at the New Leaf café. Woodhatch on Friday 25th November at 10.30am

 

GROUPS:

Quiz every Tuesday at the Beehive 8pm for 8.30pm cost £1

Craft Wednesday 16th November at the Beehive 7.30pm

Book Club 2 Thursday 24th November at Julie's 2.30pm

Games evening at the Geek Retreat Thursday 24th November 7.30pm buy a drink or something to eat. After the meeting we heard that the Geek Retreat is temporarily closed.

Book Club 1 on Monday 28th November at the Beehive 7.30pm

 

 

MEALS:

Christmas lunch at St Mary’s Church Centre: on Monday 5thDecember at 12.30pm, cost is £11. After the meeting we heard that this had not been booked by the church centre so we weregiven an alternative date of 14th December which was not convenient.

Christmas Lunch: at the Beehive on Monday 19th December at 7pm for 7.30pm, choose your menu and £5 deposit. Board available for members to sign up.

 

OUTINGS:

Helping at Stripey Stork will take place on Thursday 19thJanuary from 9.30am-12.30pm. Board available to sign up.

 

THEATRE:

Dorking Halls: Craft market on Sunday 20th November at11am free entry.

Dorking Halls:The Nutcracker’ on Thursday 1st December at 7.30pm cost is £24 book your own tickets.

Miller Centre: ‘Pygmalion’ on Saturday 10th December 2.30pm cost £14 there is a board to sign up.

Archway Theatre: Jeeves & Wooster in "Perfect Nonsense" on Friday 9th December at 7.45pm cost £11.50

 

 

 

ANY OTHER BUSINESS:

Dates change in 2023 Easter 10th April change to 17th April and Bank Holiday 8th May change to 15th May

 

Members were asked for ideas for fundraising as we might not be able to afford speakers at all meetings

 

BIRTHDAYS:    none in December
